Seven Star Pool

Chishingtan

The famous bay scenic area in Hualien boasts a beautiful arc-shaped coastline, natural and cultural landscapes, and bicycle paths, offering panoramic views of the Qingshui Cliffs and the opportunity to enjoy the sea breeze.

Qixingtan is the only county-level scenic area in Hualien County, connecting Taroko National Park, the East Coast, and the East Rift Valley National Scenic Area. In addition to its natural beauty, it has become the best recreational spot in the county after being built by the Hualien County Government in phases over many years. The poetic name Qixingtan (Seven Star Lake) is said to originate from the area around Hualien Teachers College and Hualien Airport. In earlier times, there were scattered lakes, which were later filled in for development. Now, Qixingtan generally refers to the area north of Meilun Industrial Zone and Hualien Airport, featuring a fault-formed strait and a beautiful arc-shaped bay, boasting rich natural and cultural landscapes. At Qixingtan, you can enjoy a distant view of Qingshui Cliffs and admire the lights of the new town and Chongde area at night. There are also many attractions in the area, offering a relaxing and intellectually stimulating experience.
The Qixingtan Scenic Area uses a bicycle path as its main artery, stretching 21 kilometers from Nanbin Park in Hualien City, through Hualien Harbor and 48 Heights to the Qixingtan Scenic Area, offering diverse scenery along the way.
The Hualien County Government has also constructed a stone sculpture park, a star-gazing plaza, a sunrise viewing tower, a children's playground, and other recreational facilities. Near the fishing grounds, there are also explanatory signs about the marine ecology, and a coastal plant park has been established within the windbreak forest area. The area boasts a rich variety of flora and fauna, making this an intellectually stimulating trip well worthwhile.
